Virat Kohli Engages In Heated Conversation With On-Field Umpire During RCB Vs DC Clash – WATCH VIDEO

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli once again engaged in a heated argument in the ongoing Indian Premier League over a controversial decision during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s home match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. The decision took place early in the Delhi Capitals’ chase when Mohammed Siraj’s inswinging yorker almost cleaned up Avishek Porel. Coming into attack in the second over, Siraj bowled a beautiful Yorker on the middle stump but Porel jammed his bat down on time to guide the ball towards the third-man fielder.

The RCB pacer along with his teammates went up with a loud appeal for an LBW as it looked like the bat ball had hit the pads in the naked eye. With the on-field umpire unmoved, Siraj quickly went upstairs as the TV replays showed the ball had no contact with the pads. Seeing that, Kohli didn’t seem happy at all as the former RCB skipper charged at the umpire and had a heated conversation with captain Faf du Plessis following him.

However, Kohli seemed to have understood the reason behind the not out decision as he went to his fielding position after few seconds.

This is not the first time, Kohli and umpires had a tough time on the field. Earlier, during RCB’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Kohli shouted at the on-field umpire over a controversial dismissal that made the headlines and invited debates for a few days. The former India captain was even fined for that.

“Mr Virat Kohli, Batter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024,” IPL said in a statement.

Kohli committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. The 36-year-old admitted to the offence and accepted the match referee’s sanction. “For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, RCB bowled and fielded brilliantly to beat Delhi Capitals by 47 runs here to keep their IPL 2024 play-off hopes alive. Having managed only 187/9 after a blazing half-century by in-form Rajat Patidar, RCB bowled out lacklustre Delhi Capitals for 140 in 19.1 overs. Patidar (52 off 32 balls) and Will Jacks (41 off 28 balls) added 88 for the third wicket in little under nine overs.

But Yash Dayal (3/20) and Cameron Green (1/19) were brilliant with their lengths as none of the Delhi batters save stand-in skipper Axar Patel (57 off 39 balls) made a mark.
