Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans celebrated their victory over Chennai Super Kings all night as they took to the streets chanting ‘Kohli, Kohli, the video of which went viral on social media. Needing to win the game by 18 runs or above, RCB dished out a collective show to restrict CSK to 27 runs short and make their way into the IPL 2024 playoffs, thus joining Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.
Not only the fans celebrated on the streets, but also burst firecrackers like they have won the title. For the unknown, RCB are yet to win an Indian Premier League title in the last 16 editions. Meanwhile, viral videos on social media also claim there was Bengaluru-like celebration at night in Hyderabad too.

On the back of five wins, RCB needed to win against CSK at any cost. Batting first, RCB rode on knocks from Virat Kohli (47), Faf du Plessis (54), Rajat Patidar (41) and Cameron Green (38 not out) to post 218/5. However, CSK needed to score 201 to secure playoffs qualification.
In reply, the defending champions were in a spot of bother when they lost a couple of wickets with just 19 runs on board. Rachin Ravindra (61) and Ajinkya Rahane (33) rebuild the sinking ship with a 66-run stand for the third wicket but RCB came back strongly with a flurry of wickets to put CSK on the backfoot. T20 World Cup-bound Shivam Dube too faltered.
With 17 runs needed in the final over to secure qualification, Yash Dayal kept his cool despite MS Dhoni smashed him for a six to restrict the opposition to 191/7. Even RCB skipper Faf du Plessis dedicated his Player of the Match award to Dayal.
“I dedicate the Man of the Match (award) to Yash Dayal! I said to him pace off on this wicket is the best option,” Du Plessis said during the post-match presentation ceremony. “What a night! Such a great atmosphere. Just a pleasure to finish the season in front of the home fans,” added Du Plessis.
