IPL 2024, SRH Vs LSG Weather Forecast In Hyderabad: Rain Likely To Play Spoilsport In High-Octane Game

Hyderabad: Rain is likely to play spoilsport the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants game in the ongoing IPL 2024 on Wednesday as the city of Hyderabad witnessed heavy downpour on the eve of the game. On Tuesday, the City of Nizams received heavy rainfall as the centre pitch at the Uppal Stadium and its surrounding areas were seen fully covered, the video of which went viral on social media. The SRH vs LSG encounter holds huge significance as the winner will go one step ahead in securing their final four spot for the playoffs.

With the IPL 2024 coming close to the knockouts, as many as four to five teams are in fight for the final two spots for top four. Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, with 16 points each, have all but qualified for the knockouts.

According to accuweather, there are chances of rain from 5 PM IST on May 8 (Wednesday) with thunderstorms expected at spots. There are 40 per cent chances of rain on the match-day with the temperature hovering around 28 degrees. The humidity will be around 62 per cent.

Due to heavy rain, several spots in Hyderabad had significant traffic disruptions while some places also witnessed hailstorms.

Both teams are locked in at 12 points from 11 games with SRH making the top four cut based on a slightly superior net run rate of -0.065 compared to LSG’s -0.371. The Sunrisers find themselves in a fierce competition for the top four spot with KKR, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings (12) stationed above them on the points table.

The Pat Cummins-led side has ample talent but has been unable to hold on to a winning run recently. Sunrisers have lost three of their last four matches, mainly because their destructive batting line-up hasn’t delivered. In their last match against Mumbai Indians, which they lost by seven wickets, they failed to put up a good target on the board, which has been their strong suit this season.

LSG, on the other hand, have to get over their overall lacklustre display against Kolkata Knight Riders, when they not only conceded the first-ever 200 plus score at the Ekana Stadium but also folded their innings at 137. It was a day when skipper KL Rahul failed to anchor the innings while the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran were unable to get the big shots when needed.

With tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav ruled out of the IPL and left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan also picking up an injury, the onus will be on Afghan quick Naveen-ul-Haq, young Yash Thakur, Stoinis and spinners Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi to deliver.
