Chennai: With the entire schedule of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League yet to announced, reports suggest that Chennai could be hosting the summit clash. As per a report on PTI, the qualifiers would be held at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. Fans are excited after this rumour came to light. The hope is that MS Dhoni plays the finale in front of his home crowd and sign off on a high from there. The MA. Chidambaram has always been a happy hunting ground for CSK. The final would take place on May 26.
“The IPL Governing Council has followed the tradition of holding the opening game and final at the home venue of last year’s defending champions — in this case Chennai Super Kings,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.
On the eve of the IPL 2024 opener, Dhoni shocked us all as he stepped down as captain of CSK. Ruturaj Gaikwad was appointed as the new leader of the side.
Meanwhile, CSK won their season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday.
Gaikwad started his captaincy stint with a win as CSK defeated RCB by six wickets win. Bating first, RCB rode on knocks from Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik to put 173/6 in 20 overs. For CSK, Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets.
In reply, CSK started brilliantly with both Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra taking the game away from the opposition. Although RCB pulled the game back with few wickets, but it was Shivam Dube who finished the game with a six and four.
